Emily Osment and Montana Jordan share the same “dream” guest star for Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage — and it isn’t anyone from the Big Bang Theory universe! Following a Saturday, Sept. 27, panel appearance at Los Angeles Comic Con, Osment exclusively revealed to MovieWeb that her “wish” would be to act alongside country music legend Dolly Parton.
“I would love to have Dolly Parton on the show…We haven’t met Mandy’s grandma yet.”
Jordan immediately agreed, joking that if the “Jolene” singer was ever on set with them, he might try to “trap her scent” in an empty bottle “so I can smell it from here on out.” This prompted Osment to playfully exclaim, “She smells like magnolias!”
Several other cast members weighed in with their own hopes for future guest appearances. Will Sasso and Rachel Bay Jones — who respectively play Mandy’s parents, Jim and Audrey McCallister — both hoped to see past actors from Young Sheldon, specifically Melissa Peterman, who famously helmed the role of Brenda Sparks.
“I am really hoping that Brenda Sparks makes an appearance and becomes a big part of Audrey’s life. I think that could be really funny to have them play off of each other.” – Rachel Bay Jones
Sasso also mentioned he’d “love to see more dream sequences” with Lance Barber, who played the late George Cooper Sr. in the episode “Typhoid Georgie.” While Barber was a series regular in Young Sheldon, his character passed away of a heart attack during the final season of the show.
Meanwhile, Dougie Baldwin, who stars as Connor McCallister, said that he’d like to see original Sheldon actor Jim Parsons in the series, if only they could find a way for it to make sense. Unfortunately, it’s not meant to be. Seeing as Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage takes place more than 10 years before the first episode of Big Bang Theory, Baldwin admitted that it “wouldn’t work with the timeline.”
One ‘Young Sheldon’ Star Probably Won’t Appear on the Show
While it would be more likely for Young Sheldon star Iain Armitage to have a guest spot in Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage than Parsons, fans probably shouldn’t hold their breath. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Raegan Revord — who has been featured as Sheldon’s snarky twin sister, Missy, in both shows — suggested that including Sheldon in the series could get tricky due to his complicated relationship with his older brother.
“I feel like if, because they’re sticking to the Big Bang Theory lore and everything, because the whole thing in the Big Bang Theory is Georgie and Sheldon don’t talk, because they kind of have a rift between them after George dies. And so, if they’re sticking to that, I feel like it wouldn’t make sense for Sheldon to come back. But who knows? Maybe they’ll find a loophole. They have found loopholes before. Maybe they’ll find one again.”
As for Armitage, he told ET last year that he was “always” willing to appear on the show if they ever needed him to “step in” for an episode.
