Marvel released the first trailer for its upcoming Disney+ series Wonder Man not so long ago, but more details about the show are starting to emerge as we edge closer to its release date. The preview gave fans a better look at the MCU’s very meta commentary on Hollywood and the superhero genre, while also spotlighting its all-star cast, led by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley. However, one person was missing from the footage: Josh Gad, aka the voice of Olaf in the animated musical Frozen. The Disney legend has reportedly joined the cast of the streaming title, which is set to release under the “Marvel Spotlight” banner next year.
According to The Direct, the Winter 2025 issue of Disney’s D23 Magazine confirmed that Gad will be making his MCU debut in Wonder Man… as himself. The actor will reportedly be playing “an extremely famous version of himself” (not that he isn’t extremely famous in real life). It sounds like he will be mixing and mingling with Hollywood’s elite in the show, while also demonstrating “his singing abilities” in a few of the scenes. His appearance is expected to provide some comedic moments among all the behind-the-scenes drama that the series will explore as it delves into the entertainment industry, per the official synopsis:
“Aspiring Hollywood actor Simon Williams is struggling to get his career off the ground. During a chance meeting with Trevor Slattery, an actor whose biggest roles may be well behind him, Simon learns legendary director Von Kovak is remaking the superhero film Wonder Man. These two actors, at opposite ends of their careers, doggedly pursue life-changing roles in this film as audiences get a peek behind the curtain of the entertainment industry.”
