Foreigner rocked the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York, on Thursday night, December 4th. As an added treat, they were joined onstage by original singer Lou Gramm for a handful of songs.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame act is sporting a new look these days, with Luis Maldonado taking over lead vocals for longtime singer Kelly Hansen, who retired from the band earlier this fall. Maldonado previously served as Foreigner’s guitarist, after joining the band in 2021.

On this December US run, Foreigner are celebrating their six-times platinum 1981 album 4, playing all 10 songs from the LP, albeit not in order and not consecutively. Maldonado and company kicked the evening off with two songs from 4, “Night Life” and Woman in Black,” before diverting from the album with the title track from 1978’s Double Vision.

From the get-go, it was clear that Maldonado is a worthy successor to Hansen, delivering powerhouse vocals with a strong command of the stage. Two more massive hits followed, with the one-two punch of “Cold as Ice,” and “Waiting for a Girl Like You,” before the 4 deep cuts “I’m Gonna Win” and “Don’t Let Go.”
Despite the band bringing high energy to the Capitol Theatre, the crowd mostly remained seated until eight songs in, when Maldonado introduced the legendary Lou Gramm, leading to a standing ovation from the audience.
The 75-year-old founding Foreigner frontman handled lead vocals on three tunes from 4 — “Luanne” (which the band is performing on this tour for the first time in 40 years), “Girl on the Moon,” and the hit “Urgent” — sounding pretty strong vocally, with Maldonado and the other members helping to hit the high notes. In between songs, Gramm offered some insight into each tune, saying that “Luanne” was his favorite track off 4.
With Gramm exiting the stage, the current incarnation of Foreigner took over once again, with another 4 cut, “Break It Up,” followed by the band’s debut single, 1977’s “Feels Like the First Time.” A drum and keyboard solo then led into an extended version of the 4 hit “Juke Box Hero,” ending the main set.
After a few minutes, Foreigner took the stage for an encore, this time joined once again by Gramm. He and the band performed the ubiquitous No. 1 ballad “I Want to Know What Love Is,” and were joined midway into the song by a choir from the local Port Chester High School. At the end of the tune, Maldonado thanked the young teenagers, and stressed to the audience how important it is to keep funding art and music programs in schools.
The night ended with Gramm and company turning up the heat with a rousing rendition of the hit “Hot Blooded,” as the audience sang and danced along. All told, it was a triumphant performance by Foreigner, highlighted by the addition of Gramm on a number of songs.
Opening the evening was onetime American Idol contestant and Rock of Ages broadway star Constantine Maroulis, who was accompanied by guitarist Ariel Bellvalaire. The singer performed a set of original tunes and classic rock songs, including Guns N’ Roses “Sweet Child o’ Mine,” displaying his powerful pipes.
Foreigner recently announced a Summer 2026 co-headlining North American tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd, and they’ve also added a run of Florida dates with Lou Gramm for April.
