With the debut of Stranger Things Season 5 fast approaching, fans have been speculating wildly about what the runtime of the first part of the season will look like. Thanks to creator Ross Duffer, everyone now knows exactly how much time they are going to have to set aside for the return to Hawkins, Indiana, when Volume 1 drops on 
Netflix on November 26.
Although the Duffers previously said that Season 5 will not be quite as epic as its predecessor, which has several episodes around two hours long and a finale that was almost two and a half hours, fans have still been expressing their belief that the show will return with some epic runtimes as it begins its final chapter. Now, as you can see below, everyone can stop speculating, start planning, and probably start griping about some episodes being too short or too long.
- Episode 1: “The Crawl” — 1 hour, 8 minutes
- Episode 2: “The Vanishing of [Redacted]” — 54 minutes
- Episode 3: “The Turnbow Trap” — 1 hour, 6 minutes
- Episode 4: “Sorcerer” — 1 hour, 23 minutes
The length of Volume 1 will therefore clock in at just over four hours and 30 minutes, making it a hefty chunk for viewers to try and scramble through before the internet fills up with spoilers. For those who have no issues with such things, then there is a lengthy gap between this and the next batch of episodes, which don’t arrive until Christmas ahead of the series finale on New Year’s Eve.
‘Stranger Things’ Could Be Netflix’s Most Expensive Show To Date
Ross Duffer may have cleared up one set of rumors about the show, but has not addressed the recent reports claiming that Stranger Things Season 5 could be Netflix’s costliest project ever.
Last week, it was revealed in a report by Puck that the show’s final run of episodes could have ramped up spending to the tune of a potential $60 million per episode. This would put the total cost of the season up to around $500 million. While this may seem like an incredible amount of money, with several episodes clearly bordering on feature-length, and the entire show being special effects-laden, $50-$60 million is not that much of a surprise anymore.
Netflix will want to make sure that Stranger Things avoids the kind of divisive ending that shows like Yellowstone and Game of Thrones have delivered. While money does not guarantee anything, it can certainly ease some things along. If the budget proves to be accurate, then Stranger Things 5 is going to look fantastic, and if it can stick the landing, it can end as it started as one of the greatest TV shows of all time.
