If any platform is doing the festive season right for December, it is Prime Video. The month offers two original Christmas films that deliver the ideal mix of comedy, romance, and festive spirit. Of course, for others, the primary draw here will be the anticipated second season of Fallout finally debuting (perfect timing, with the streaming platform also airing the 2025 Game Awards). Whatever your reason for tuning in this December, Prime Video offers an impressive lineup of new and classic titles, including more than 60 movies available at the start of the month.
Here are the top movies and TV shows coming to Prime Video in December that you won’t want to miss out on. Below that, you can find a complete list of all the titles coming to Prime Video, including what days they will be available to stream.
‘Oh. What. Fun.’ (2025)
Available To Stream on December 3
Claire Clauster (Michelle Pfeiffer) finds herself, every year at Christmas, acting as the glue that keeps everyone together. She bakes, decorates, cooks, and guides the festivities while others relax. Oh. What. Fun. sees Claire at a potential turning point in her life. After a family get-together she planned, she gets left behind as the rest of the family gets caught up in personal drama. Feeling underappreciated, Claire plans to make the holiday her own and goes off on a spontaneous adventure, leaving her family desperate to search for her as they can’t figure out how to make the holidays work without her nurturing guidance.
Michelle Pfeiffer is not the only significant name attached to this Prime Video festive original, as the movie boasts a comedic ensemble cast including Felicity Jones, Chloë Grace Moretz, Denis Leary, Dominic Sessa, Jason Schwartzman, Eva Longoria, and Joan Chen. Of course, a great cast is not enough to sell a film, and where Oh. What. Fun. looks to stand out is in exploring the often underappreciated role of mothers during the holidays. The movie is directed by Michael Showalter, who previously delivered one of the best rom-coms of the modern era to the platform in The Big Sick, guaranteeing the film will be more than just a “flavor of the month” Christmas movie. Oh. What. Fun. will help viewers ring in the holidays when it comes to Prime Video on December 3, 2025.
‘The Phoenician Scheme’ (2025)
Available To Stream on December 5
Anatole “Zsa-Zsa” Korda (Benicio del Toro) has survived one too many assassination attempts, prompting him to hand over his empire to his only daughter, Sister Liesl (Mia Threapleton), a nun. This plan launches a globe-trotting mission to establish the “Phoenician Scheme,” a series of waterways and railways to secure an even greater fortune. This power grab puts the family, along with Liesl’s quirky teacher, Bjørn (Michael Cera), at odds with a series of eccentric moguls.
MoviewWeb‘s Julian Roman would call The Phoenician Scheme “A hilarious return to deadpan form for Wes Anderson” in his review, which is excellent news for fans of Anderson. That said, the film features the sleek visual style, lighthearted humor, and eccentric characters typical of Anderson’s work, which may resonate more strongly with some viewers than others. The Phoenician Scheme is coming to streaming for the first time on Prime Video on December 5, 2025.
‘Merv’
Available To Stream on December 10
Russ and Anna (Charlie Cox and Zooey Deschanel) are going through a separation, including an ongoing custody battle over their dog, Merv. However, the separation leaves Merv feeling “The Blues” as he struggles without one of his pet parents. Over the Christmas holidays, Russ decides to take Merv on a beach vacation to help cheer him up, but when Anna insists on going too, things become complicated. As Merv slowly starts to get out of his funk, Russ and Anna also begin to rekindle their relationship in the joint act of putting their pooch’s feelings first.
A romance between Zooey Deschanel and Charlie Cox? That alone should have some viewers swooning and excited to check out Merv. Yet, the broader appeal here obviously lies with that adorable, titular canine star. For those who love any heartfelt movies with a dog at the core, the combination of rom-com, holidays, and a cute furry star will make the new Prime Video movie a top priority for December. Director Jessica Swale has already proven herself a talent to watch. Her 2020 film Summerland resonated with emotional warmth, making her well-suited to tell a story about co-parenting a beloved dog. Merv will be available on Prime Video on December 10, 2025.
‘Fallout’ (Season 2)
Available To Stream on December 17
The second season of Fallout sees both familiar faces returning alongside new cast members. Add a new location in Las Vegas, and the already beloved sci-fi Western series is looking to continue thriving in its second season. New threats like the Deathclaws, a deepening lore, and high stakes in the new setting ensure the good times keep on rolling. The series has become a fan favorite among gamers for its faithful adaptation of the source material. Still, it certainly does not lack in action, compelling characters, and sharp visuals that immerse viewers in a post-apocalyptic Western. Fallout season 2 premieres on December 17 with new episodes weekly.
