School is out. While we’ve long known that the third season of HBO series “Euphoria” — official logline: “Zendaya stars in this series that follows a group of high-school students as they navigate an unstable world” — is very much leaving the horrific world of high school behind, today’s announcement of some new stars makes that very clear indeed.
Deadline reports that the third season of the HBO series had added a gobsmacking array of new cast members, including Bella Podaras, Bill Bodner, Cailyn Rice, Colleen Camp, Danielle Deadwyler (a first look at her character is available below), Eli Roth, Gideon Adlon, Hemky Madera, Homer Gere, Jack Topalian, Jessica Blair Herman, Kwame Patterson, Madison Thompson, Matthew Willig, Natasha Lyonne, Rebecca Pidgeon, Sam Trammell, and Trisha Paytas.
They join a previously announced assortment of “Euphoria” newbies, including Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Toby Wallace, Sharon Stone, Rosalía, Marshawn Lynch, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Kadeem Hardison, Priscilla Delgado, James Landry Hébert, Anna Van Patten, and Asante Blackk.
Deadline also adds that Alanna Ubach, Daeg Faerch, Dominic Fike, Melvin Bonez Estes, Nika King, Paula Marshall, Sophia Rose Wilson, and Zak Steiner from the original cast will join the previously announced Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Eric Dane, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Martha Kelly, Chloe Cherry, and Colman Domingo.
And, yes, the majority of these talented performers are decidedly not high school age. (Though, part of us would love to see a series in which Lyonne, Pidgeon, Deadwyler, and Camp take on the wilds of the modern high school.)
Showrunner Sam Levinson shared with Elle that the third season will be “film noir”-style centered on Zendaya’s Rue as she “explores what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world.” The show’s time jump will set Season 3 approximately five years after the events of Season 2, taking the characters out of high school. Zendaya is also slated to direct an episode in Season 3.
The third season, which is expected to be the final entry in the “Euphoria” TV universe, is still filming in Los Angeles. Eight episodes have been ordered and they will hit HBO in 2026.
