Dua Lipa has been covering songs by local artists in each city on her current “Radical Optimism Tour,” and she did the same at her shows at San Francisco’s Chase Center over the weekend. On Saturday, the pop star performed the Janis Joplin classic “Piece of My Heart,” and on Sunday she sang Green Day’s “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” with a surprise appearance by the punk band’s frontman, Billie Joe Armstrong.

At Sunday’s concert, Dua Lipa gave an onstage speech about growing up listening to certain band from the Bay Area, including one album in particular. It was then clear that the band she was speaking about was Green Day and the album was American Idiot when she surprised fans by introducing Armstrong, eliciting a huge cheer from the crowd.
Armstrong walked out onto the stage and hugged Lipa, before the pair duetted on the Green Day ballad, backed by the pop singer’s band. The two singers traded vocals throughout the performance, with Armstrong shouting out “San Francisco” at one point during the song.

On previous dates on her tour, Dua Lipa performed “Don’t Speak” with Gwen Stefani in Los Angeles, covered Aerosmith in Boston, and even rocked AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell” in Australia.
