Settle in, Doc Fanatics, because the series is about to turn up the drama a notch!
All season, we’ve had a plethora of arcs. What the hell is the deal with Joan’s obsession with controlling Amy? Will her secret health issue come out? Will Amy finally remember Ryan Clark and what happened to him?
Hell, will Jake and Amy get it together? There are so many things going on, but on Doc Season 2 Episode 6, we may get the fallout from the UNOS situation, and it puts two characters we love in the crosshairs!

Doc’s Two-Week Break Builds Suspense
The bad news is that we have to wait TWO WHOLE WEEKS for Doc to return with an all-new episode, and let’s say this girl is already in withdrawal about it.
But there’ll be nothing like kicking off my birthday week with what promises to be one of the most action-packed episodes so far.
If you’ve been following along with Doc Season 2, you know that Amy has been undergoing an experimental regimen to help her recover her lost memories. A key component to Amy feeling as if she can put her life back together again is understanding what she lost in those eight years.
It sounds reasonable, but it’s also been evident that she’s maybe pushing her body too far amid all of this, and it certainly doesn’t help that she keeps her symptoms from the procedure to herself.
The timing of Amy doing all of this has aligned with the addition of Hannah, who is the daughter of a former doctor at the hospital who had a terrible experience with Amy that ultimately resulted in him taking his own life a few years ago.
It’s one of the series’ biggest mysteries as we struggle to piece together what Ryan was up to that led him to fumble so much on the job. How the escalation of his issues and tension with Amy resulted in his termination, and later on, his taking his own life.
Hannah and Her Brother Join Forces to Investigate Amy

Up until now, Hannah and Amy have had an endearing rapport that’s been refreshing, given the fact that most of the hospital hates Amy on any given day. But by the end of Doc Season 2 Episode 5, an HR rep’s slip-up now has Hannah determined to figure out how Amy connects to her father’s termination and suicide.
An aptly titled “Saints and Sinners” will dig even further into that as Hannah elicits the help of her brother to hack into Amy’s emails and get to the bottom of what really happened between Amy and Ryan Clark, their father.
It dips into soapy territory, but Doc has a great way of making this type of arc work. Meanwhile, it’s clear that Amy is starting to piece together some of these memories of her own, mainly because Hannah is triggering them, so we’ll have to see if the pacing collides and what it’ll lead to between Hannah and Amy.
In the meantime, Amy seems to be facing a medical puzzle when she has to treat a priest, played by Timothy V. Murphy, who frankly, is so great at playing bad guys that I’ll probably be wondering if something is off with this priest the entire time!
When All Else Fails … Consult a Higher Power

Amy can’t seem to figure out what’s wrong with him, which is not an ideal situation for someone who always has a solution. But it will lead the priest to help Amy through some challenging times and to make peace with her past.
Medical dramas love to bring religious figures in, and then have some of our favorite characters initially resistant to them, only to give in to them in some meaningful way as they work through their personal issues.
For that alone, this case has the potential to be fascinating.
According to the synopsis, TJ will also be returning to work and immersing himself in a case that has him treating a prisoner. These cases can also bring about fascinating character exploration, which plays nicely into the “Saints and Sinners” episode title.
It’ll be great to see how a strictly moral character like TJ handles a situation like this!

UNOS-Gate Brings Professional Chaos (or Downfall)
But the real drama and juice come from Michael and Jake potentially facing fallout from Doc’s season premiere.
The hostage situation was an intense affair that had both of them tricking UNOs when it came to a heart transplant, and now the chickens are coming home to roost!
In the promo, we see that Michael’s access to UNOS is denied, and that the organ donor agency has apparently suspended Westside’s access and transplant program, which could severely impact one of the region’s best hospitals.
We should’ve known the board was likely lying about things being smoothed over with UNOS. They’ve been at their wits’ end with Michael for some time, and the guy has meant well, but he’s been at odds with the board since he landed this CMO position.

This may be the perfect opportunity for them to oust Michael, and after the detours fighting to protect Amy at the hospital, he may be in for a bigger fight to save his own job there or lose it altogether.
We see Michael and Jake in cahoots in the promo, having a conversation about the whole ordeal. And we have to wonder if Jake will also face some repercussions and fallout from this situation.
It’s an interesting situation: two men who love Amy so much are facing career ruin because of their willingness to bend the rules and defy all to save her. And she may be none the wiser about all of this fallout.
Who Will Take the Fall?
Interestingly, we hear Jake telling Michael that they’re making Michael the fall guy in this situation, which is likely true.

Will either or both of them make it out of this situation unscathed? That’s the most intriguing story tease of the episode!
