2025’s I Know What You Did Last Summer, the legacy sequel to 1997’s I Know What You Did Last Summer and 1998’s I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, will be streaming on Netflix just in time for Halloween. Directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, best known for the Netflix dark comedy Do Revenge, I Know What You Did Last Summer is set 27 years after the events of the original film. It finds a new group of young people stalked by a mysterious killer, following a dark secret that unites the group. The movie not only sees original stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prince Jr. return to the franchise but also adds breakout stars like The Studio‘s Chase Sui Wonders, Doctor Who‘s Jonah Hauer-King, Him‘s Tyriq Withers, Tiny Beautiful Thing‘s Sarah Pidgeon, and The Map that Leads to You‘s Madelyn Cline.
I Know What You Did Last Summer will stream on Netflix starting Oct. 16, 2025, according to What’s On Netflix. The film will stream on Netflix for 18 months before moving to Disney+ and Hulu in 2027, as part of Sony Pictures’ deal with the two streamers. Both the original I Know What You Did Last Summer and the sequel are also available to stream on Netflix, allowing viewers to watch all three movies this Halloween season.

I Know What You Did Last Summer opened in theaters on July 18, 2025, grossing $12.7 million in its opening weekend, landing in the number three spot behind holdovers Superman and Jurassic World: Dominion, which held the first and second place spots, respectively. I Know What You Did Last Summer grossed $32 million domestically and $64 million worldwide, against a reported budget of $18 million. The movie received largely negative reviews from critics, scoring 36% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it did garner some mildly positive reviews from notable critics.

After all, if Vin Diesel’s box office flop The Last Witch Hunter can land a sequel based on performing well on Netflix, why can’t I Know What You Did Last Summer?
