As promised, Stephen Colbert has taken the gloves off when it comes to mocking the Trump administration since CBS canceled The Late Show. In his latest salvo, he hit back at Trump’s incessant posting of AI-generated racist videos by creating one of his own, targeting Vice President JD Vance.
To set up the bit, Colbert played a clip of Vance insisting Trump was merely “joking” and “having a good time” by posting meme videos of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries wearing a sombrero and a mustache. “I make this solemn promise to you that if you help us reopen the government, the sombrero memes will stop,” Vance added.
Showing two can play that game, Colbert then shared his own AI-generated video “based on something that isn’t real to help end the shutdown,” featuring a sombrero-wearing Vance fucking a couch. Watch the clip below.

“Come on, it’s a joke. You’re having a good time,” Colbert deadpanned. “And I’ll tell you what, here’s the deal. If you resign as VP, I won’t keep showing that every chance I get. And I definitely won’t put it on all of our socials so people can share it and maybe roll on a loop during their holiday parties this year.”
For context, the bit is a callback to a false claim that went massively viral during the 2024 presidential election, which alleged Vance had admitted in his memoir to “fucking an inside-out latex glove shoved between two couch cushions.”
Despite being terminally online, Vance has yet to comment on Colbert’s video, but there’s a non-zero chance he’s seen it. After defending the President’s memes as just “having a good time,” let’s see if he can take the joke.
