I did love this episode of Chicago PD; however I did slightly feel like it was a bit all over the place. There were so many storylines that I wanted them to delve deeper into, which I’m sure they will in further episodes but whilst watching I was like give me more.
I need to know what’s going on obviously with Voight having the picture attached to the front of his car in an envelope. Then finding out that Imani hasn’t seen her sister since she was eight years old was another bombshell I wasn’t expecting, and I really do need them to explain both of those storylines a lot more than just the two sentences we got.
Overall this episode was very well crafted. It had aspects where the team needed to get there to make sure that everyone’s okay and also the slower moments like the interview with Imani making it such a well-rounded episode. They have been doing this style a lot within these first four episodes and I think that’s why the season is bringing such a good quality of content because you have those moments where it’s so fast paced, and you have to be paying attention but then there’s also those slower moments where you find out information. I have really liked that this season and I really do hope they continue doing it.
For the fans I think this is quite a cool thing (I don’t want to be quoted on this because I may be wrong) but I’m pretty sure the person that was sending the dispatch calls at the start of the episode was Brian Luce. I mean he has an incredibly distinctive voice so if it wasn’t him then I would be shocked, but I thought that was a really cool touch to just listen to him speak on the radio. Obviously with him being an ex-cop, it was kind of cool to know that’s probably what was sounded over the radio when he was a cop.
It’s no secret that I love Hank Voight and I know there’s some people that will disagree with me on that, but I don’t care because I think he’s one of the best characters on the show. His relationship with Trudy this season has been so nice to see, obviously we’ve seen over the 13 seasons that they have a very close bond and will always have a close bond. It’s definitely been so pleasant to see them just lean on each other and be each other’s sounding boards. I’m hoping that continues for the rest of the season because I cannot wait to see what happens with this picture of him and how Trudy can help him find out why that photo was delivered to him.
I’m also absolutely loving Imani as a character. She is quite literally the perfect fit for the intelligence unit, and I cannot wait to see and hear more about her story and how it develops over the course of the season.
Season 13 of Chicago PD has been incredible so far and I have a feeling it is only going to get better.
