With another episode of Chicago Fire just around the corner, it’s time to delve into the spoilers.
There’s plenty to work with when it comes to Chicago Fire, even though it doesn’t initially seem it.
After all, the Chicago Fire Season 14 Episode 5 promo gives us just a small look at one of the calls in the episode, which is the usual case.

This call is sure to have a knock-on effect throughout the rest of the episode, but the images give us a look at something fitting for Halloween, likely near the end.
Is Kidd Going to Die?
The promo for Chicago Fire Season 14 Episode 5 shows one of the calls, in which Firehouse 51 responds to a scene outside where a victim lies on the ground.
However, this doesn’t look like a traditional attack we see in the world of One Chicago.
Cruz and Severide spot a fallen blackbird, likely a raven, that eerily has a feeling of a canary in a mine.
Sure enough, Kidd collapses next to the victim, overcome by something that is in the air.
Considering they’re outside, it’s unlikely to be carbon monoxide poisoning, so there has to be another gas that knocks people out in the air.
Squad 3 will need to roll in with their equipment for this save, as there could be more people inside the building that they’ve been called to.
9-1-1 just recently had a call that involved antifreeze leaking from the engine of a school bus, which led to all the children going into organ failure until the 118 managed to find a way to save them.
While it’s probably not the exact same situation, Chicago Fire could opt for something similar, using a toxin or gas in the air that causes more than just people to collapse, given they’re outside.

There are some canisters outside the building, so this links back to some sort of gas, but I’m just surprised it can knock people out when they’re all outside.
It’s unlikely the series will kill off Kidd, especially at Episode 5 of Chicago Fire Season 14, but it sets up a dangerous call for Firehouse 51.
A Confusing Synopsis
The synopsis makes little sense, offering no indication of any of the calls that are happening.
We know that Cruz will turn to an ally, but there is no indication of what this is all about.

Right now, Firehouse 51 is taking on longer calls due to budget cuts in the One Chicago universe, and Violet and Novak have already been working on finding a way to help with the paramedic situation.
Is it possible that the firefighters are burning out, too?
Cruz could be looking for a solution in that, but it could also be linked to some firefighters being furloughed and losing paychecks, leading to the need for an ally to fix the broken system.
Then there’s the section about Mouch helping a friend in need.
Considering the storyline in Chicago Fire Season 14 Episode 4, which involved Herrmann and his family losing their house, this could be a continuation of that.
Halloween Fun?

This could link to photos of everyone in costume at Molly’s, where Mouch recently handed over his shares of the business to Herrmann to help with cash flow issues.
Since Herrmann still owns the bar and it’s where first responders gather, it wouldn’t be surprising if Mouch gave a big speech about how good Herrmann has been to everyone who helped set up the place.
Then there’s Vasquez, who spent the last two episodes of Chicago Fire Season 14 looking for answers about his dad.
At the end of Chicago Fire Season 14 Episode 4, he told his dad that the medical report was missing from the evidence in his dad’s case.
That would have included the murder weapon, and now Vasquez wants to keep looking into this to help his dad.
What’s Next for Vasquez?

The question is whether his dad is even innocent.
Just how far is Vasquez willing to go to help get his dad out of prison?
There’s so little that we know about this case right now, but I wouldn’t be surprised if something came out in the new episode, as Novak keeps stepping in to offer some help, and she’s sure to start asking questions.
Chicago Fire airs on Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC and streams the following day on Peacock.
