Clem Burke, longtime drummer of Blondie, has died on the age of 70.
Based on an announcement from the band launched on Monday, Burke handed away “following a personal battle with most cancers.”
“Clem was not only a drummer; he was the heartbeat of Blondie,” the band added. “His expertise, power, and fervour for music have been unmatched, and his contributions to our sound and success are immeasurable. Past his musicianship, Clem was a supply of inspiration each on and off the stage. His vibrant spirit, infectious enthusiasm and rock strong work ethic touched everybody who had the privilege of realizing him.”
Burke joined Blondie in 1975, shortly after the band’s formation, and appeared on each one of many band’s albums, alongside founding members Debbie Harry and Chris Stein. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Corridor of Fame as a member of Blondie in 2006.
It is a growing story…
