Billy Corgan thinks The Smashing Pumpkins are “one of the misunderstood bands within the historical past of rock ‘n’ roll.” That’s what the alt-rock act’s frontman informed Joe Rogan throughout a near-three-hour dialog on the latter’s über-popular podcast.
Because the visitor on a brand new episode of The Joe Rogan Expertise, Corgan touched on a myriad of matters. At one level the pair began to debate the renewed reputation of once-derided bands Nickelback and Creed.
Whereas speaking about polarizing music acts, Corgan mentioned, “You’re about to see that Nickelback and Creed are about to go on an enormous run of enterprise. … They survived [the hate], and now comes the inevitable second of, ‘It was actually good’ … they wrote a variety of nice songs.”
On that word, Corgan mentioned that he believes that the Pumpkins will get extra respect because the years go by, remarking, “It’s form of how I really feel about my musical life. Time will inform my story a lot better than I did.”
He went on to say that it used to bother him to be in comparison with a few of his musical friends who’ve since died and seen their legacies elevated to new heights. “It bothered me as a result of it felt unfair or it felt like I used to be being type of made to pay for the sins of the people who find themselves now not right here,” famous Corgan. “Significantly, in Gen X, we’ve had so many nice abilities die.”
Because the dialog continued, the eye turned towards the Pumpkins, with Corgan declaring, “We’re most likely one of the misunderstood bands within the historical past of rock ‘n’ roll,” including, “That seems like a wrestling assertion, nevertheless it’s pretty correct.”
