Australia is home to some of the most forward-thinking artists in the alt electronic space, with Oliver Henry certainly being one of the names that should be mentioned in that list. We’ve been keeping an eye on the Sydney-based producer since the release of his track “Whispering” back in 2023. The classically trained musician creates music that transcending genres of breakbeat, house and brooding electronica. Today we celebrate his return to lush and immersive electronica thanks to “Glimmer”, a brand new song released via Gallery Recordings. Beautifully minimal, repetitive and sprinkled with reverb-drenched vocals drift above a soft kick and…

Pluribus, the mysterious new Apple TV+ series from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan, just got a little less mysterious. At the very least, we now know that Rhea Seehorn’s character is named Carol, and that she’s at the center of something massive that’s happening to the world. The official description says that Pluribus “is a genre-bending original in which the most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness.” There are more than a few clues in the new trailer to examine here: A news chyron on a TV warning people about “landlines only,”…

There are some creators we celebrate for being able to adapt to a wide variety of genres: Steven Spielberg, Ryan Murphy, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Comedian Tim Robinson, though, seems like he takes the opposite approach — rather than figure out a way to conform his original voice to different genres, he adapts genres to fit the stories he wants to tell. It’s as if Robinson himself is the genre, to which everything else is secondary, leading us to 2025’s Tim Robinson vehicle/bro comedy Friendship, and now Tim Robinson vehicle/conspiracy thriller The Chair Company, prennmiering October 12th on…

Astronoid have announced a new album, Stargod, arriving November 7th. The post-metal group also dropped the lead single “Third Shot.” The track combines the band’s signature spaced-out textures and atmospherics with driving AOR-esque rhythms, prog flourishes, and a decidedly pop element via the melodic, high-register vocals of Brett Boland. “We knew as soon as ‘Third Shot’ was written it would be the first single on the record,” Boland shared in a press relase. “It was the song that solidified the direction of the album. The song is about how much we love what we do, and the lives we have…

Black Label Society have dropped a new song, “Broken and Blind,” a preview of their forthcoming new album scheduled for an early 2026 release. The track is a three-plus-minute stoner rock groover with fiery guitar licks from axeman/singer Zakk Wylde. He commands a strong vocal performance here, as well, hitting some extended notes in the chorus that callback to early Soundgarden, when the grungers dabbled in this type of heavy stoner rock. The rest of BLS provide an airtight pocket for Wylde’s playing, with the lineup rounded out by bassist John DeServio, drummer Jeff Fabb, and rhythm axeman Dario Lorina.…

Considering their intertwined paths and shared prominence in the deep house scene, it was only a matter of time before beatsbyhand and Sio teamed up – and “Trick Me” delivers on that promise. Johannesburg-based producer beatsbyhand has developed a reputation for crafting bass-heavy house music that blends deep house, afro house, and soulful elements. His latest release “Trick Me” serves as a marvelous example of this description as Sio’s rendition of Kelis’ hit is drenched in warmth and emotion. This is complemented by lush synths hovering across the sonic spectrum while the bright bass line in the second half of…
