We’ve been keeping tabs on New York-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Aguava ever since his track “Flyga” back in 2021 and time and time again I am blown away by the versatility of this young talent. His new single, “Mirage”, explores the depth of nu jazz and house music with some lush acoustic elements that add a psychedelic feel to the whole composition. A combination that is radiating both warmth and sophistication. Source link
A release that feels both timeless and modern, JONES’ 5-track In The Moment EP is a release I cherish fondly. While it does feel rather nostalgic, there’s this hopeful playfulness engraved in the base code of each of the tracks on there, including today’s highlight “Don’t Wanna Say Goodnight”. Soulful melodies, organic textures, and lush synths, built on the solid foundations of JONES’ view of modern alternative r&b. This one feels like a bridge between generations and it deals with themese that will be forever relevant for us, humans – heartbreak, joy, and being present. Especially in the era we…
A couple of days ago I woke up to the news of a long-awaited message – the returns of Planet Giza. The Montreal-based trio comprised of Rami B, Tony Stone and DoomX champions hip hop in its purest form, alongside beautifully harmonised vocals and a message that’s channeled through the prism of their diverse multi-cultural backgrounds. Their albums Added Sugar (2019) and Ready When You Are (2023) are a must-listen regardless of your music preferences. Blending rap, jazz and soul music, the track is an absolute masterpiece. I was really excited to see Kiefer and Braxton Cook (who we recently…
Earlier today I introduced you LA-based collective wst cmplx and their single “FLOWERS TO THE FALLEN”, but I feel a single track isn’t enough to grasp the talent of these artists, so it’s time to explore their latest release, “MOVING FORWARD”. The song kicks with a gospel piano, jazzy saxophone and downtempo-like vocal ambiance before it belts out into a gorgeous syncopated beat-driven symphony. Originally conceived in 2022 from an idea that wst cmplx’s keyboardist Alex had tucked away, “MOVING FORWARD” resurfaced in 2024, rooted in themes of self-forgiveness and personal growth. With its signature West Coast r&b vibe, the…
Today we celebrate Bermingham-raised, London-based artist Jaydonclover and her brand-new album a constant state of blue, released via our friends at Exp. Share Records. Inspired by an array of genres, including r&b, soul, indie and hip hop, the album (as the title suggests) explores themes that tend to evoke melancholia. Jaydonclover turns heartbreak and insecurity into something strangely uplifting, weaving clever lyrical hooks with a sly, seductive sense of irony. I am utterly impressed by each of her lines, delivered with perfect wit and emotion, turning personal struggle into a listening experience that feels incredibly intimate. I sat on the…
Imagine a small gathering of your closest friends and family on the top of a mountain overseeing the most beautiful terrain you can imagine. That small gathering is actually a rave and the vibe is immaculate. If there’s one track I would like to hear in such setting that’s the deeply emotional and intimate Sofia Kourtesis remix of SAGES’s “Opening”. SAGES is a joint project between Ólafur Arnalds and Loreen, whose debut self-titled EP was released earlier this year. You can dive into the original “Opening” below. I’ve always loved hearing how a remixer reimagines a track, capturing its essence…
A few days ago I stumbled upon LA collective wst cmplx and my faith in the future of soulful r&b has been further enhanced. Comprised of 8 extremely talented individuals, the group mends together their diverse musical backgrounds, genres, experiences and influences into a unique and prone to constant evolution sound that will whisk you away from the very first note. With a noble goal of redefining the West Coast sound and injecting it with a dose of optimism and introspection, wst cmplx champion self-love and creative honesty. Anything, starting from their visual identity to the music they make is…
Sabrina Carpenter has been joined by a string of special guests during her run of 2025 festival dates, including Duran Duran at London’s BST Hyde Park and Earth Wind & Fire for at Lollapalooza. That trend continued during Carpenter’s weekend one headlining slot at Austin City Limits, where she invited Shania Twain to join her for a performance of “That Don’t Impress Me Much.” Get Sabrina Carpenter Tickets Here Carpenter’s ACL appearance came ahead of a new fall 2025 leg of her “Short n’ Sweet Tour” launching in late October.” She’s also set to pull double duty as host and musical…
Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl is off to a record-breaking start, selling 2.7 million copies on its first day in the US. Already, Swift has secured the second-biggest sales week of the modern era — since Luminate began electronically tracking data in 1991 — trailing only Adele’s 25, which moved 3.378 million copies in its first week back in 2015 (per Billboard). Of that total, 1.2 million came from vinyl sales alone, setting a new record and surpassing the benchmark Swift herself established with The Tortured Poets Department, which sold 859,000 vinyl copies in its 2024 debut week.…
The current Riyadh Comedy Festival taking place in Saudi Arabia has received major backlash, including harsh criticism from comedians who are not participating in the two-week event. Now, comedian Jessica Kirson has apologized for performing at the festival, while the embattled Louis C.K. has defended his appearance. The festival features a who’s who of prominent comedians who earned major paychecks for their appearances, including Dave Chappelle, Sebastian Maniscalco, Kevin Hart, Chris Tucker, Bill Burr, Pete Davidson, Whitney Cummings, and more. In recent days, fellow comedians like Marc Maron, Shane Gillis, and David Cross (who wrote a lengthy takedown of his…
