It’s interesting to think about Will Smith’s career both pre “the slap,” and post-the slap. Pre-the slap, a movie like Hancock seemed a little odd and against type for the actor. Will Smith as a reckless, maligned superhero? That’s not the Will Smith I know. The farthest I could give you for a profane Will Smith was the Bad Boys movies. However, post-the slap, Hancock feels a lot different now. And, in many ways, better. Because that was the thing about Hancock – it didn’t quite feel right when it debuted back in 2008. Smith had a much cleaner image back…
The superhero genre is going through some thrilling changes lately, thanks to the burgeoning DCU. Created by co-CEO James Gunn, the first slate of projects is titled Gods and Monsters, recently making its debut in theaters with Superman (which is streaming with a HBO Max subscription). The Superman cast list was led by David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult, and the latter actor recently reminisced about his favorite memory of the Clark Kent actor on set.Superman was a hit at the box office, partly thanks to its stellar casting. While Nicholas Hoult auditioned for Kal-El, he made an outstanding Lex Luthor.…
As talk continues about whether or not John Wick: Chapter 5 will happen (for the sake of Keanu Reeves’ body, maybe it shouldn’t), let’s not forget about the heroine who debuted in the franchise earlier this year. Ana de Armas starred in the 2025 movie release Ballerina as Eve Macarro, who went on her own mission of revenge, just like Mr. Wick. I enjoyed watching Ballerina, including that moment where de Armas assembled a gun in 14 seconds, and am now even more impressed to see the stunt was indeed done practically. In a video making the rounds that was originally…
The second season of Watson is on the way to CBS, and fans can expect it a lot sooner than was originally announced. Instead of having to wait until early 2026 to see the aftermath of John letting Moriarty die in the Season 1 finale, the doctor and his team will be back very soon in the 2025 TV schedule thanks to some scheduling changes. The catch? Watson is losing its post-Tracker slot on Sunday nights, but leading man Morris Chestnut is optimistic about the doctor/detective drama doing well on Mondays.Watson will air this fall on Mondays at 10 p.m.…
With the dawn of widespread AI, it only makes sense that I make this list about evil computers (or other types of technology) in movies and TV. There are a ton to choose from, of course. Sometimes it’s their creators that make them go rogue, other times the computers or software itself turns itself to the dark side. No matter why they go bad, this is a list of computers that are the ultimate villains in your favorite movies and TV shows. (Image credit: Paramount)Skynet (Terminator Franchise)No list like this would be anywhere close to complete without the ultimate example…
Believe it or not, the end of the first season of Outlander: Blood of My Blood is nearly here in the 2025 TV schedule. While there’s still the last season of Outlander on the way and Blood of My Blood is already guaranteed to return for Season 2, the stakes are sky-high ahead of the finale in October. As of the end of the penultimate episode, both of the main love stories are far more tragic than they are beautiful.Whether or not that lasts remains to be seen, but after pondering the state of Brian and Ellen as well as…
Good Boy (Image credit: Ben Leonberg)Release Date: October 3, 2025 Directed By: Ben Leonberg Written By: Alex Cannon and Ben Leonberg Starring: Indy the Dog, Shane Jensen, Arielle Friedman, Larry Fessenden Rating: PG-13 for terror, bloody images and strong languageRuntime: 73 minutesHaving an animal nearby in our households and/or in those of our family and friends is a constant throughout many of our lives. And having a dog in particular often feels like this symbiotic relationship where us humans get unconditional love, protection and a fuzzy friend that will follow us anywhere in exchange for giving them a safe and…
When it comes to actor relationships in Hollywood, I can’t think of any better mentor/mentee bond than Tom Cruise and Glen Powell. The two stars first got the opportunity to work together in the making of Top Gun: Maverick, and they have seemingly been close ever since, with the latter frequently turning to the former for advice about his career. As a seasoned veteran of the industry, Cruise has a lot of great experience that he can share, and that even includes how to act while wearing a whole bunch of prosthetics – as he did playing Les Grossman in…
There’s already plenty of hype building around the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, the tent pole superhero movie set to hit the 2026 movie schedule and close out Marvel’s Multiverse Saga in explosive fashion. But as I follow all the chatter about Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, returning heroes, and how this film will (hopefully) tie a bow on years of storytelling, I keep circling back to one wish. More people need to see Marvel’s Thunderbolts* (or New Avengers).Thunderbolts is one of my favorite Marvel movies in years, and I know I’m not alone. But the reality? It barely made a dent…
It was a little over three years ago when Glen Powell and Monica Barbaro blew up in a big way, among others, thanks to Top Gun: Maverick, which can be streamed with a Paramount+ subscription. Their characters, Jake “Highball” Seresin and Natasha “Phoenix” Trace, were among the crop of pilots taken under the wing (pun intended) of Tom Cruise’s Pete “Maverick Mitchell. Powell and Barbaro have remained friends since making the Top Gun sequel, and the former had some kind words to pass along to the latter.Barbaro is on TIME’s list of the world’s most influential rising stars in 2025,…
