I’ve enjoyed many shows released amid the 2025 TV schedule and, as the year winds down, I have a new favorite. HBO recently debuted Task, a miniseries that sees Mark Ruffalo playing the head of a task force investigating a string of robberies at drug dens in the Philadelphia area. The show is created by writer/producer Brad Ingelsby and, thus far, I’ve been captivated by it. I’d already love to see a second season, but hear me out on a crossover I want even more. A Halloween-themed installment of the flagging “V/H/S” franchise is obvious to the point of redundancy: Both have become annual celebrations of horror-related kitsch, “scary” as a means of self-classification but increasingly safe — even comforting — in execution. Likewise, both offer a selection of disposable treats wrapped in the promise of a night to remember, but only one of them has ever given me a good excuse to dress my three-year-old son as the wood-chipper from “Fargo” (my then-pregnant wife went as Marge Gunderson, it was a whole thing). The “V/H/S” omnibuses became an institution because the first two were sinister enough…
There have been a lot of disturbing thrillers over the years that have left audiences in a state of shock long after the final credits roll. David Fincher’s Seven, Ari Aster’s Midsommar, and Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho are just some that come to mind. They’re movies that disturb us on a psychological level, getting deep inside our head to play havoc with our thoughts. Now, one of the most riveting of them all has found a new streaming home to once again traumatize viewers this October. Released in 1976, Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver is perhaps one of the most disturbing psychological…
It seems that few celebrities have gone through as many personal highs and lows in just the past decade than Christina Haack. While she’s seen massive success as a home renovation and design expert, in that time she’s remarried twice, had two children and divorced three times. The early days of the 2025 TV schedule saw her launch another hit show on HGTV, The Flip Off, which featured both her first ex, Tarek El Moussa, and his second wife, Heather Rae, and 2024 dissolution of Haack’s third marriage to Josh Hall. It turns out that El Moussa actually joked that…
Planning on seeing Paul Thomas Anderson‘s “One Battle After Another” in theaters multiple times? You’re in good company, as it appears that fellow filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola is already planning his second trip to the cinema to see PTA’s latest. Can we get this icon of filmmaking his very own punch card, too? Coppola’s reasons for wanting to see the film again extend far beyond an eagerness to check it out in different formats, and instead are rooted in his interest in digging deeper into the storyline, the film’s many excellent performances, and just maybe getting to take it in…

I’m a bit of a trivia nerd and history dork. I also happen to love Guinness beer. It’s been my go-to beer going all the way to my college years in the ‘90s. When I learned that House of Guinness was going to be part of the 2025 TV schedule, I got excited. When I found it would be from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight (who is also slated to write the next James Bond movie), my excitement ratcheted up another few notches. When the first episode began, I was immediately taken by surprise to learn something I never knew: The…

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a well-oiled machine at this point, routinely releasing content in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. Fans who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order have some lingering questions, including the epic costume that Elizabeth Olsen wore at the end of Age of Ultron. And now she explained the brutal reason we never saw that look again on the big screen.Wanda Maximoff is a fan favorite MCU character, but Avengers: Age of Ultron was her very first appearance in the shared universe.
