Astronoid have announced a new album, Stargod, arriving November 7th.
The post-metal group also dropped the lead single “Third Shot.” The track combines the band’s signature spaced-out textures and atmospherics with driving AOR-esque rhythms, prog flourishes, and a decidedly pop element via the melodic, high-register vocals of Brett Boland.
“We knew as soon as ‘Third Shot’ was written it would be the first single on the record,” Boland shared in a press relase. “It was the song that solidified the direction of the album. The song is about how much we love what we do, and the lives we have built around our love of music. Each band member has experienced losses while building our lives. The song embodies the beauty of embracing your dreams while simultaneously traversing the loss. We are grateful for all the beautiful moments in our lives and hope that this song can bring beauty into other lives as well.”
Following the release of their last album, 2022’s Radiant Bloom, Astronoid enjoyed a huge professional ascent after garnering a support slot on blink-182’s stadium run in 2024, having been handpicked by Tom DeLonge himself. Concurrently, in that span, the band members experienced profound personal losses with the passing of guitarist Casey Aylward’s mother — one of the band members’ “most ardent champions” — and shortly after, Boland’s mother-in-law passed away unexpectedly.

“It was a tumultuous season,” said Boland. “A lot of fans asked, ‘Where did Astronoid go?’ Well, we were dealing with life.”
Regarding the album, he added, “Stargod is about our love for music. I can’t believe it’s taken us to where we are, and I wish the people who we’ve lost were here to see what we’ve done.”
