One of the most criminally underrated action heroes in the game is finally being given the chance to shine in a rough-and-ready thriller that promises to put his skills on display free of frills, thanks to the perfect no-nonsense plot. Lewis Tan, star of the likes of Deadpool & Wolverine, Cobra Kai, and Mortal Kombat, puts his particular set of skills to the test like never before in Safe House, for which an explosive new trailer has now been released. Check it out below!
Tan himself took to X/Twitter to share the action-packed new Safe House footage, which teases some seriously intense confrontations amid bullet flying, fist-throwing, high-kicking action as six government agents are smashed together in the titular safe house with the enemy just outside. “Love a good whodunit but this one has nonstop crazy 🔥 happy to finally share this with you all, this cast is killer. Get ready. SAFE HOUSE in theaters and On Demand Oct 31st,” Tan said in a caption alongside the trailer.
And it seems we’re far from the only ones ready to bask in the action movie glory of Lewis Tan taking the lead in Safe House. “Hell yeah! Now THIS is the kind of action I want to see. Awesome!” said one fan in response to the new trailer. “Lewis Tan in an action flick. What could be better?!” added another.
‘Safe House’ Is the No-Nonsense Action Thriller You Need Right Now
Safe House is directed by Jamie Marshall (Den of Thieves) from a script written by Leon Langford and stars Lewis Tan alongside a stellar ensemble cast that includes Hannah John-Kamen (Thunderbolts*), Holt McCallany (Mindhunter, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning), Lucien Laviscount (The Bye Bye Man), and Ethan Embry (Last Seen Alive). Alongside the new footage, you can also check out the wonderfully simple premise for Safe House below…
Trapped in a high-security safe house after a terrorist attack in downtown Los Angeles, six government agents realize they must survive not just the enemy outside, but the potential traitor among them.
Veteran stunt performer and Extreme Martial Arts competitor Arnold Chon, who has worked on several major productions including the Transformers, Indiana Jones, and Pirates of the Caribbean franchises, as well as Rush Hour 2, Day Shift, 24, The Naked Gun, and many more, is on board as both fight and stunt coordinator. Tan himself teased how committed both he and the other actors were to the action under the expert guidance of Chon, taking to X to reveal that “No stunt doubles” were used.
Alongside Safe House, Lewis Tan has several exciting action-oriented projects in the pipeline. The actor will join forces with Underworld star Kate Beckinsale for director James Nunn’s action thriller, Lioness, which will follow a former special ops squad who are forced to reunite and carry out a high-stakes heist in order to rescue their commander’s daughter. Tan will also play a role in the action-comedy Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice, which features an all-star cast that includes Vince Vaughn, James Marsden, and Eiza González, as well as returning as Cole Young in the upcoming video game adaptation sequel, Mortal Kombat II.
