Alex G is again to announce a brand new album, Headlights, out July 18th by way of RCA Data. He’s additionally revealed the brand new track “Afterlife” because the album’s first preview.
Headlights serves as Alex G’s first album since his acclaimed 2022 effort God Save the Animals and a busy three years touring, throughout which he signed to RCA Data, opened for Foo Fighters, crafted the scores for the movies We’re All Going to the World’s Honest and I Noticed the TV Glow, and contributed to Halsey’s newest album The Nice Impersonator.

Now, together with his tenth studio album Headlights, Alex G reprises his signature poignant, hybrid indie rock sound, evidenced by lead single “Afterlife.” With a chipper mandolin main the way in which, Alex G blends reflections on his previous with the concept of passing on into a distinct, new life: “When the sunshine got here/ Large and vivid/ I started one other life,” he sings within the refrain, scraping the highest of his vary on “large and vivid.” The monitor arrives with a music video directed by Charlotte Rutherford and that includes a younger boy being pulled round a Southern city by a microphone.
