Mastermind of Talking Heads and playlister extraordinaire, David Byrne, is kicking off the 2025 holiday season with a playlist for “people who hate Christmas music.”
Byrne’s 32-track playlist, titled David Byrne Radio Presents: Christmas Music for People Who Hate Christmas Music, represents many genres and musical styles, with music from Run-D.M.C. and Prince, to FINNEAS and 100gecs. It’s a cohesive and unique listening experience, with something for everyone here.

In a statement, Byrne explained what this list of songs is actually about. “This playlist is not about the solstice, nor does it have some Pagan agenda – it’s rowdy, fun songs that gently poke at and refer to the holidays,” he wrote. “Enjoy!”

A few days before this, Byrne stopped by NPR to perform Talking Heads tracks “Nothing But Flowers” and Life During Wartime,” plus his songs “Everybody Laughs” and “Don’t Be Like That” from the new album, Who Is the Sky?
Speaking of Who Is The Sky?, Byrne is currently on a humongous world tour in support of the LP, with a pair of remaining North American dates in Miami (get tickets here) before his international run (get tickets here) beginning next year.
