Slipknot‘s shelved 2008 album Take a Look Outside Your Window will finally see a release in 2026, according to founding member Shawn “Clown” Crahan.
Crahan has teased the release in the past, but this time he’s made a promise that the album, which was recorded as a side project during the 2008 sessions for Slipknot’s fourth LP All Hope Is Gone, will see the light of day.
In a Discord Q&A for his new Minecraft server, Clown apologized for being wrong about his previous estimates for a release window, but reassured fans that it’s on the way. He wrote:
“Lets start with LOYW, I know I told everyone it would be this year. I’m very sorry it hasn’t been. Things come to play that change things all the time with the art we create. I want you to know 2026 is the year. It’s just simply time and I’m just getting tired of waiting myself. Have faith. I promise”

Previously teased release dates in 2019, 2023, and 2024 all came and went, though Clown did reveal that the project had been mixed and mastered, with artwork approved, in late 2024. It’s possible that the sale of a majority stake in the band’s royalties and publishing this past November led to more recent delays in the process.
Fans remain eager to hear the shelved album, which apparently features an unconventional sound for Slipknot. Singer Corey Taylor described the 11 songs from the sessions as “experimental” and “vibey” in a 2019 interview on Sirius XM’s “Trunk Nation” (via The PRP).
“The stuff from Look Outside Your Window is really, really — I mean, there’s no real way to describe it,” Taylor said at the time. “It’s experimental, but it’s super vibey, super melodic. It’s really good. It’s hard to explain. There’s something about those songs. They’re very solemn, very energetic, very artistic. For people who are used to a certain way of Slipknot sounding, this doesn’t sound anything like that. It’s much more of a rock vibe. Honestly, it’s much more of a Radiohead vibe, to be honest.”
