DJ Pet Center and Open the Hill exhibit remarkable synergy on their latest release together “Without” – a track that feels introspective yet driving thanks to the beefy rhythm section.
Hailing from Wellington, New Zealand, DJ Pet Centre creates immersive, atmospheric dance tracks rooted in breakbeat, jungle, dubstep, and IDM. With the help of Open The Hill, the two artists have crafted a tranquil ambient breakbeat tune that’s dusty and textural on “Without”. The catchy, dreamy lead in the foreground paired with the airy soundscapes in the backdrop work together to build a rich sonic world that wrap the listener in a hazy space. The most punchy element of the track is certainly the drums and in many ways, they remind me of MOLO’s “Don’t Change” thanks to the speed and their impact.
