Björk has quietly revealed that she is working on a new album. In an Instagram post announcing her upcoming Reykjavík Arts Festival exhibition, the National Gallery of Iceland noted that one of Björk’s three “immersive installations” features “a new work based on music from her forthcoming album, currently in development.”
Titled Echolalia, Björk’s exhibition will open at the festival on May 30th, 2026, alongside her longtime collaborator James Merry’s own Metamorphlings retrospective. A more detailed statement (via Vísir.is) from the Reykjavík Arts Festival adds, “The first hall will feature a new installation with music that emerges from Björk’s upcoming album. This invites guests to explore the next chapter in the artist’s research, where transformation and collaboration are at the core.”
One of Björk’s other installations, Ancestress, is dedicated to her late mother, while the other, Sorrowful Soil, is described as a “sad poem set in a remote valley in Iceland and appears as a kind of pilgrimage of musicians and dancers, including Björk herself and Sindri Eldon, her son.”
