Michael B. Jordan offers some interesting insight into the future of the Creed franchise, and might have revealed another series that is officially in the works. Michael B. Jordan starred as Adonis Creed in 2015’s Creed, a legacy sequel to the Rocky franchise. He returned in 2018’s Creed II, then reprised his role in Creed III and directed the film. It has been two years since Creed III hit theaters, and there has been no official word on any future Creed movies.
Speaking with Variety, Michael B. Jordan revealed whether there are any plans for Creed IV. “Eventually, definitely,” said Jordan, “It’s a franchise that’s been really kind to me in a big way. I love MGM and Irwin Winkler and everything they’ve got going on.” Jordan is both starring and directing The Thomas Crown Affair, which is currently set for release on Mar. 5, 2027. Meaning that any plans for Creed IV would have to come in 2028 at the earliest, five years after Creed III, which would put Jordan at 41 years old. Coogler commented about how many years he has left in him for Creed, and what he wants to accomplish, saying:
“I think there’s a bit more story to be mined through that. Do I want to be in the ring boxing for the next 15 years? Not so much. But I think there are clever ways and interesting characters we’ve established that we might want to see where that goes, along with some introductions to new ones I have in mind. I still might be able to get a couple of really good swings at the franchise a bit more.”
Another ‘Creed’ Television Spin-Off Series Has Been Confirmed
Jordan later told Variety that a series based on Adonis Creed’s daughter, Amara, which had previously been rumored, has been picked up by Prime Video. This appears to be the first official confirmation that the project, first mentioned in 2023, is moving forward. Jordan said:
“We’re spinning off doing Adonis’s daughter, Amara’s story, the television show that’s picked up at Amazon. So you’ll be seeing different parts of the Creed-verse, I like to call it. These little IPs are going to keep the universe alive without it being completely reliant on just me to push it through the finish line every time as a boxer. I’ll be adjacent.”
Plans to expand the Creed franchise began in April 2023, shortly after the release of Creed III. Jordan had previously mentioned wanting to make an anime-inspired spin-off project. The first spin-off series, Delphi, was confirmed in May 2025. Delphi is set to center on the titular gym, one seen in both the Rocky and Creed films. It is unclear if Amara is separate from Delphi, or if the two shows have been merged into one concept.
Even though Creed began as a legacy sequel to Rocky, the franchise quickly found its own identity. It has been so successful that Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky was even written out of Creed III following disagreements with the franchise producer Irvin Winkler. Where other franchises at times appear to be afraid to let new leads take over the franchise from legacy characters, Creed proved it can work as Creed III outgrossed both of its predecessors with $156 million domestic and $273 million worldwide. Maybe Creed can find a similar path with Delphi and Amara, letting the franchise grow beyond not just Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa, but also Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis Creed.
