De La Soul has had a packed 2025, and the rap icons extend their impressive run with a new album that showcases their timeless sound.
This new body of work Cabin In the Sky sounds like it a tasteful cross between old and new, and the guest features certainly highlight this with appearances from DJ Premier, Nas, Yukimi (from Little Dragon), and even Killer Mike. One of the stand out gems from this project is “Different World” with Gina Loring, and what I loved about this one is the soulful sampling paired with the gentle flows. The groovy rhythm section and shimmering melodies enhance the uplifting lyrics, as the members open up about what they feel grateful for in life.
