What Is Empire of the Sun’s Chrysalis Festival?
Chrysalis marks Empire of the Sun’s debut as festival curators, dreamt into existence by the band in partnership with 100x Hospitality. The festival invites fans to step through the door into a new realm of sound and imagination, a place where music, art, and light converge to create a living, ever-evolving world.
“Chrysalis is about imagination and rebirth,” frontman Luke Steele explained. “This festival is designed to be spirit immersive — where people leave transformed. The festival’s story focuses on the circle of symbols — the door, the egg, key, wings and bell.”
Coming off the success of their eye-catching “Ask That God World Tour,” Empire of the Sun have been sharing cryptic teasers featuring robed figures on horseback, a red carpet leading to a door on a beach, and Emperor Steele dressed in his futuristic finest. What could all these symbols mean? Chrysalis attendees will be the first to find out.
The experience unfolds as a journey through portals — from open-air stages to curated art installations and hidden activations across Iskali’s gardens, sculptures, and mango forests. Each element is designed to mirror the themes of rebirth, love, and ascension that define the Empire of the Sun universe.
