The xx Release Deluxe Version of Debut Album with Bonus Material

The xx have released a deluxe version of their self-titled debut album featuring five bonus tracks. Stream it below.

The expanded edition of xx includes new tracks “Insects” and “Blood Red Moon,” plus covers of Womack & Womack’s “Teardrops,” Kyla’s “Do You Mind,” and Aaliyah’s “Hot Like Fire.” A special deluxe vinyl version of the LP is set to drop on December 5th and is available for pre-order.

In a statement shared on Instagram, the band reflected on how much the album meant to them. “Going back to 2009 has brought up so many memories — it really does feel like another world,” they wrote. “This album means a lot to us, and we hope it still means something to you, too. Thank you for being here, always.”

The xx’s debut album was released to critical acclaim when it dropped in 2009, featuring singles “Crystalised,” “Islands,” and “VCR.”

In addition to releasing the deluxe LP, The xx have been working on new music for their fans. In 2024, Romy confirmed that the trio was working on their fourth album, describing the trio’s sessions as feeling “quite wide open” at the moment.

“I think Oliver [Sim] and Jamie [xx] and I have all tried new things and learned a lot from different projects, and I think that’s quite healthy to be like, ‘What have you learned? What should we do now?’” she told NME.

As to what the album will sound like, Romy didn’t specify. In the same interview, she admitted that it’s still “wide open.” Though it was early on in the recording process, she felt confident that “you’ll still be able to tell it’s us.”

The xx will have plenty of opportunities to debut new music next year during their confirmed festival appearances at Coachella, Primavera, and Kilby Block Party.
