Down the rabbit hole she goes: Sabrina Carpenter is set to star in an Alice in Wonderland-themed musical movie.
The Hollywood Reporter describes the film as Carpenter’s passion project, which she herself brought to Universal a year ago with “specific ideas and a lookbook.” Lorene Scafaria (Hustlers) has been brought on board to write and direct the feature.
Along with her starring role, Carpenter will produce the film alongside Marc Platt (Wicked).
Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland has been adapted for film twice before: first in Disney’s 1951 animated classic, and later in Tim Burton’s 2010 live-action version starring Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, and Helena Bonham Carter.
