Rob Dyrdek has broken his silence on MTV canceling his long-running show Ridiculousness, essentially saying that he’d already been preparing for his next chapter anyway.
In a social media video thanking the network and everyone involved with the show, the skateboarder turned TV personality promoted his so-called “time intelligence” venture, Existence.
“I just want to say thank you to every single person who ever watched any of my shows. 19 years, four different shows, 2,034 episodes,” Dyrdek said, before naming executives as well as collaborators such as Big Black, his cousins, and Ridiculousness co-hosts Sterling “Steelo” Brim, Chanel West Coast, and Lauren “Lolo” Wood.

He continued, “This was divine timing. I had really evolved over these last few years. I was growing out of having that ball cap and standing on a Ridiculousness stage and dancing.”
Then, Dyrdek went into a tech bro spiel about how “deeply efficient” he got with filming Ridiculous to set up his “time intelligence platform” announcement. He claimed that they were able to shoot an episode in “25 minutes” after initially spending “two or three hours,” allowing him to shoot 12 per day.
“It was because I was so committed to this time mastery goal of mine — of understanding all of my time and optimizing all my time,” he said, while making grandiose hand gestures. “That’s what really led to the show being so efficient, but my overall quality of life being so amazing. And so really, that’s where we are today.”
This led to the reveal of Dyrdek’s self-described “magnum opus,” Existence, which he says was created “so that everybody could easily account for their time, optimize their time, and thus optimize their quality of life.”
Reiterating that he was “incredibly grateful” for Ridiculousness’ 46-season run, Dyrdek signed off the video with a final sales pitch inviting fans to learn how he “optimized at the highest level” by joining the waitlist at the Existence website.
Existence appears to be an app that basically helps organize a user’s calendar with some journaling features thrown in. According to the website, using it will help uncover “hidden patterns shaping your life” and “unlock time intelligence,” which reads like marketing copy for the inevitable subscription fee.
