In the greatest episode ever of HBO’s Emmy-winning Last Week Tonight with John Oliver on Sunday night, GWAR and Heavy Consequence were both spotlighted as the host focused on the Trump administration’s decision to cut funds from public media.
Roughly three-and-a-half minutes into the episode (watch bel0w), Oliver featured a clip from our recent interview with Blöthar the Berserker. In the clip, the GWAR front-thing talked about the virtues of public broadcasting, naming Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers as national treasures.

Of course, Oliver had some fun with our interview, commenting, “It is both beautiful and confusing to watch [Blöthar] utter the words ‘Mr. Rogers,’ as it’s hard to imagine them in the same universe. Although, I’ll say, I would love to have seen GWAR on Mr. Rogers: ‘Blöthar, you are special just the way you are. Your diseased undercarriage composed of abscessed-riddled penises makes you YOU!’”
At the end of the episode, Oliver launched an auction to benefit public media via the website JohnOliversJunk.com, and among the items is a bidet signed by Blöthar, with the current highest bid as of this posting at $2,500.
An official description of the bidet reads: “Bidet signed by The Berserker Blothar from American heavy metal band GWAR. As discussed on Last Week Tonight’s season 12 finale, Blothar is a big fan of public broadcasting greats such as Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street. Despite the way he looks. Well, respectfully, we think Blothar could use one.”
