A V for Vendetta series is in the works at HBO, reports Variety.
DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran will executive produce, with Pete Jackson (not the Lord of the Rings filmmaker) directing.
V for Vendetta started as a graphic novel written by Alan Moore and illustrated by David Lloyd. Set in a dystopian UK ruled by fascists, it was adapted into a 2005 Warner Bros. film directed by James McTeigue. The movie starred Hugo Weaving as anarchist revolutionary V and Natalie Portman as Evey Hammond.
Moore, dissatisfied with previous adaptations of his works From Hell and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, asked not to be credited for the film. Made on a budget of approximately $50 million, V for Vendetta was a box office success, grossing $134.7 million worldwide.

The movie remains popular, with Warner Bros. set to bring it back to theaters in November 2026 for its 20th anniversary. Check out the trailer below.
Meanwhile, V for Vendetta would be the latest DC Studios live-action show to land on HBO, following the critically acclaimed Watchmen in 2019 and last year’s The Penguin starring Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti.
Next up is Lanterns, starring Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart. That series is expected to premiere early next year.
