Season 13 of Chicago PD is definitely becoming one of my favourites. I think it’s because each episode has such a unique feel to it, but it also marries up with the rest of the season. The season so far reminds me a lot of the early years of the show and that’s unquestionably one of the reasons why I love it so much.
I am a big Dante Torres fan so I adore that we are getting multiple centric episodes for him this season, plus Benjamin is such an incredible actor you can’t not love what you are watching him do.
This episode really showcased how big Dante’s heart is, he may have been going through a rough time at the moment but nonetheless he is still the kind hearted person he was when he first joined the unit. He will always fight for the little guy (even if he’s had a gun pointed at his head for half an episode) It didn’t shock me one bit that Torres helped Odell find Carter after he collapsed, he is in the intelligence unit and it’s essentially a requirement to go rogue multiple times when in that unit.

It’s pretty common knowledge that I love when stories span multiple episodes, and I am a thousand percent looking forward to the continuation of this storyline. I know we have often seen the intelligence unit throw themselves into work to avoid their personal lives and no doubt Dante will do exactly that with this case.
I have to admit that watching Carter and Odell interact made me a little emotional. We went on such a journey with Odell throughout the episode that seeing him finally get the opportunity to speak to Carter felt like a small piece of justice had been served. I was truly flabbergasted when Carter was shot. Normally I can see those things happening, but I was completely blindsided by it. It was so clear when we saw Kim putting pressure on Carter’s chest that he was going to die. There was just entirely too much blood loss in such a small space of time.

The heart strings were massively pulled when the doctor advised Dante that Odell hadn’t made it, the pain in his face was so heart breaking, you could tell how much Dante wanted him to be okay. Losing both brothers truly shocked me, I hoped that at least one of them would make it to see justice for them, however I am glad that Dante has involved Odell’s daughter to help find her mother’s real killer.
Season 13 appears to be having multiple solo character episodes whilst also integrating the team’s experience and if they carry on doing that then this season will continue to be a hit.
I will fervently await the continuation of this storyline, it’s such an intriguing case and one that I am sure will open many doors to other crimes.
