Thamma targeted an estimated Rs 10.50 crore to Rs 11 crore on its third day, taking the three-day cume to Rs 51 crore net at the Indian box office. The movie should aim for big spikes on Saturday and Sunday as it is registering a good occupancy in multiplexes. It should match or cross its opening day figure on the last two days of the weekend, in an ideal situation. Benefitting from its Tuesday release, the movie has a 6-day extended opening weekend. As per current trends, the vampire comedy drama should collect Rs. 80 to 85 crore by the end of Sunday.
It is expected to cross the three-digit figure on its first Monday or Tuesday. The Aditya Sarpotdar directorial continues to record the best occupancies in Delhi-UP, Rajasthan, and Mysore. The weekdays’ hold will determine how far the movie can go from there on. Since there is no major release in Hindi until Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De 2, Thamma will enjoy a clean run until mid-November.
Considering the cast and cost, Thamma is expected to emerge as another winner from Maddock’s horror comedy universe. For the record, the previous MHCU film, Stree 2, went over the Rs. 600 crore mark, emerging as an epic blockbuster. While another film from the universe, Munjya, made a solid Rs. 100 crore. Thamma is expected to find a middle ground and settle as the second-highest-grossing movie of the popular cinematic universe.
