Lily Allen Announces New Album West End Girl

Lily Allen has announced that she’ll be releasing her first album in seven years, West End Girl, on Friday, October 24th.

Originally confirmed via a recent interview with Vogue UK, the new album was recorded in 16 days with regular collaborator Blue May and features Allen inspired by her mental health journey, her experiences with fame, her recent streak of theatre projects, and, notably, her 2024 divorce from Stranger Things actor David Harbour. Comprised of 14 tracks, West End Girl serves as Allen’s first studio album since 2018’s No Shame.

“I made this record in December 2024 and it was a way for me to process what was happening in my life,” Allen said, “There are things that are on the record that I experienced within my marriage, but that’s not to say that it’s all gospel… It is inspired by what went on in the relationship.” Allen also revealed that her mental health took such a toll when working on the new album that she checked herself into a residential facility for the first time. “I knew that the things I was feeling were too extreme to be able to manage, and I was like, ‘I need some time away.’”

In addition to helming the new album, Allen has spent the last few years headlining multiple stage shows; she won a Laurence Olivier Award for her performance in 2:22 A Ghost Story in 2022, starred in the West End revival of Martin McDonagh’s The Pillowman in 2023, and played the titular role in a recent adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler this year. Beyond her theatrical endeavors and launching her podcast, Miss Me, Allen also has been selling pictures of her feet on OnlyFans; she said last year that she earns more from her OnlyFans subscribers than her millions of Spotify streams.
