Pop duo Magdalena Bay have shared a pair of new songs: “Human Happens” and “Paint Me a Picture.” Listen to them below.
“Here’s another pair of songs that complement each other,” band members Mica Tenenbaum and Matthew Lewin said in a press statement. “Different than the last, different than the next.”

“Human Happens” pairs whispered and melodic vocals with a buzzing and borderline industrial beat, while “Paint Me a Picture” rides on undulating synths, a prominent bass line and jazzy arrangement.

The new tunes follow two other tracks the duo released last month, “Second Sleep” (which debuted with an official video directed by Amalia Irons), and “Star Eyes.” Altogether, these latest songs serve as the “spiritual successors” to the band’s most recent album, the critically acclaimed 2024 release, Imaginal Disk
In celebration of the LP’s first anniversary, Magdalena Bay continue to tease the release of the long-awaited album movie. Directed by Amanda Kramer and written and edited by Tenenbaum and Lewin, the film elaborates on the world of Imaginal Disk. The band has revealed elements of the story in the videos for “Death & Romance,” “Image,” and “That’s My Floor,” as well as in their performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and on the road during the “Imaginal Mystery Tour.” Further details of the film and its release are

The group is wrapping up the “Imaginal Mystery Tour” throughout October with stops in Atlanta, Boston, Philadelphia, and more. They’ve also scheduled a New Year’s Eve show on December 31st in Denver, CO. See the complete tour itinerary below.
