Elliot Page, the actor best known for roles in The Umbrella Academy and the X-Men franchise, has discussed their reunion with director Christopher Nolan on the Academy Award-winning filmmaker’s upcoming mythological epic The Odyssey. Page was cast in the film to be released in 2026 in an undisclosed role, and this marks their reunion following 2010’s sci-fi action outing Inception. Since then, Page has come out as a trans man, with the actor revealing what it’s been like working with Nolan again now that he’s “more comfortable” in who he is.

As reported by Variety, Page appeared at a panel for X-Men: Days of Future Past at 2025’s New York City Comic Con. During the event, the actor joined co-star James McAvoy to talk about the 2014 superhero film. Page also took a few questions about other projects, including Nolan’s highly anticipated adaptation of The Odyssey. Though he kept most details a secret, the actor was candid enough to share his joy at being able to work with Nolan again after his transition:

“I was so excited to be thought of for [The Odyssey] and to be asked to come back to work with him. I loved working with him on Inception and loved being a part of that movie. I was just completely jazzed and excited, and [I] basically went and met with Chris and talked about the part, then sat in a room and read the script. It was such a joy to come back.

To come back now, as you can imagine, being more comfortable in yourself makes these sorts of projects more enjoyable. To get to have a Chris Nolan experience again now meant so much to me selfishly.”

However, this hasn’t been the first time Page has addressed working on Nolan’s 2010 sci-fi action epic. In Page’s memoir “Pageboy,” published in 2023, the actor included an excerpt about starring in Inception, and it revealed a very different reaction to the experience: “Shingles popped out of my spine while filming Inception when I was 22. Despite everyone being delightful to work with, I felt out of place. In a cast full of cis men, I did not understand the role I found myself in. For the first two weeks of the film I joked I would be recast with Keira Knightley, and rightfully so.”

With a rumored budget of $250 million, The Odyssey is the Academy Award winner’s most expensive movie to date. The price tag is largely because of Nolan’s vision to shoot in real-life locations, the use of 70 mm film cameras that are tailored for IMAX films, and groundbreaking special effects. Nevertheless, the huge cast of stars may also have affected the mammoth production budget.

The Odyssey stars Page alongside major names like Matt Damon, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Tom Holland, Samantha Morton, Mia Goth, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong’o, John Leguizamo, and Shiloh Fernandez, among many others. The film proves Nolan’s magnetic pull to attract top-tier talent for his projects, something previously seen in major productions like Inception, Dunkirk, and Oppenheimer.
