Two teen boys are playing with a drone when they crash it. When they look at what it’s filming, they see that there’s a car that’s buried in the pond and a dead woman inside.
Morgan shows up to meet Arthur at one of his lawn jobs. He claims that he did what Roman wanted and the job was done. He hadn’t talked to Roman in 15 years before he got the call to check on Morgan and Ava. He doesn’t know where Roman is.
Soto introduces Wagner to the squad and he still seems to have an interest in Morgan. He takes over Soto’s office and wants to speak to Oz first.
Morgan checks in with Soto to still if she’s okay with all of this.
Apparently, the Wagners are a dynasty family when it comes to law enforcement.
The team heads to the scenen with the dead woman in the car. Morgan already identifies the woman as Tori, the woman who the car is registered to. They also notice chemical burns and many bullet wounds. Also dye on her hands.
Morgan also finds a gun in the glove compartment, and it’s evident that Tori changed her entire look and was on the run hiding from someone.
Morgan and Karadec head to the storage unit that Tori rented and search her things looking for potential clues. Karadec finds a bunch of passports under different identities.
After looking around, Morgan susses out that Tori was an investigative reporter, and whatever story that she was looking into may have gotten her killed.
Oz is distracted after his time with the captain and Daphne notices. He says it went well but also seems suspect.
Their clues lead them to a Content house where a bunch of influencers are there trying to create content for their various platforms. It seems Tori went under cover as an influencer.
They recognize Tori as Darla, and they inform the people there that Tori/Darla is dead. She had only been in the house for a few weeks. Morgan surmises that the content house is being run like a sweatshop.
The trio of influencers thought they were the ones who killed Tori becuase of a prank they pulled in her backseat. There was an explosive comnbination of peroxide and yeast that went off in Tori’s car while she was driving.
It’s clear that she may have been injured.
They manage to find Finneas, the person running the house, but he takes off in his sports car which Karadec almost considers running after like he’s a superhero or something. Morgan finds this amusing.
Wagner talks to Daphne and says that she’s great and that she should consider sitting for the sargeant’s exam. He sets her up an appointment with a friend of his.
He then tries to pull Morgan aside when she arrives, but she wants to focus on the interrogation Karadec and Oz are doing. Morgan seems to impress Wagner when she studies the interrogation and realizes that Finneas’ had a corroded watch that proves he moved the body.
Finneas cops to that, because he didn’t want to lose the house. He said he didn’t know she was shot and he wasn’t trying to kill her since he was buying bots to get Tori’s traffic up.
They get Tori’s bag from Finneas, and one of the other influencerse, Raquel, was right about Tori stealing her protein powder. It seems Tori was investigating the protein powder.
The protein poweder leads them to the owner of the company for it who Morgan and Karadec go talk to about Tori. He knows that Tori had it out for him, but Bobby seems surprised that Tori is dead.
He says that Tori called him a week ago, and he has an alibi.
Wagner calls Karadec in to speak to him. He says Karadec’s reputation precedes him and then wants to ask about Morgan and her deal and their partnership. Wagner acknowledges that Karadec was smart to “claim” Morgan as his partner because they’ve closed so many cases because of her.
That’s the exteent of the conversation and Wagner not so subtly dismisses him. His interest in Morgan remains incredibly odd.
Morgan meets with Arthur and still wants the backpack that belonged to Roman. Arther never looked inside of the backpack even though he wanted to see it, and he’s curious what made Roman run.
Ava shows up to Morgan’s surprise and sits down with Arthur. She demands the bag, too. And Arthur is amused by Ava and says that she looks like Roman. He recalls fond memories of him and Roman when they grew up together.
He seems to soften at Ava being there and sympathizes with her.Arthur finally relents and says he’ll give Morgan the bag.
Morgan and Ava got to leave and Morgan is so angry at Ava for the stunt she pulled.
Oz andKaradec go to speak with Bobby’s manager to see if there’s anything there, and the guy seems fond of Bobby. He speaks very highly of him and what Bobby has accomplished.
According to the manager, Bobby wasn’t angry at Tori even though he went to prison, but he mentions that Tori showed up again and threatened Bobby and putting him in prison forever. He leads them to believe that Bobby probably did hurt Tori.
They head to Bobby’s place to arrest him but Bobby swallowed a bunch of drugs and overdosed. He’s dead. Apparently, he was upset after the cops talked to him. Apparently, Bobby was trafficking drugs through the powder protein.
But Morgan knows that it’s a lie.Bobby ate before he died, but there’s no evidence of it. Someone druggd his food and wanted it to look like Bobby was behind killing Tori and the drug operation.
They figure out that it was Bobby’s manager who was running the drug trafficking and killed everyone, including Bobby. He was the fall guy.
Wagner finally gets Morgan alone after she doged him again. They talk in the parking lot. He’s very intrigued by her and tells her to profile him, which she does.
She talks about how he likes to keep people gussing about what he wants in them. There’s a lot of flirtiness in the moment, but Wagner definitely has some interst in Morgan and her ability to solve puzzles.
Back at home, Morgan and Ava argue and Morgan puts her foot down about how much she’s going to tell Ava after her disregarding her words. Meanwhile, Ava calls Morgan a hypocrite.
Ava storms off into her room, and Arthur leaves the backpack at the door. Morgan considers telling Ava about it, but she declines and takes it into her room.
