Three episodes deep into High Potential Season 2, and there’s still no sign of Roman Sinquerra.
The elephant in Morgan’s emotional room refuses to appear, and patience is wearing thinner than a plot line stretched too long.
High Potential Season 2 Episode 3 confirms through Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) that Roman was recently in Nevada, but instead of chasing that lead, the show stalls.
Ava (Amirah J) is shell-shocked. Morgan still hasn’t called Arthur (Mekhi Phifer), despite having his number.
We already know Roman’s alive, as the Season 1 finale confirmed it. So what’s the hold-up?
A character as pivotal as Roman shouldn’t be used like seasoning, sprinkled here and there.
His return could blow the lid off multiple simmering subplots, both personal and procedural.
Why High Potential Needs to Stop Dragging Roman’s Story
Well, Roman’s absence worked in High Potential Season 1 because it was the primary mystery. But now, the show’s walking on narrative eggshells.
His past, particularly his work as an FBI informant, provides High Potential with an opportunity to expose internal corruption within law enforcement.
That thread? Untouched this season. Arthur recently told Morgan that Roman no longer trusts law enforcement.
That’s not a throwaway line, it’s the kind of breadcrumb that should lead to a feast. So why hasn’t Morgan picked up the phone?
She’s spent 15 years agonizing over this man. Even if the truth hurts, wouldn’t she rather rip off the Band-Aid than die by a thousand cuts?
Right now, her silence doesn’t feel like hesitation. It feels like stalling for the sake of pacing.
Roman’s Return Would Heat High Potential’s Cold Cases (and Hearts)
This isn’t just about plot. Roman’s reentry would shake the show’s emotional core.
His reunion with Morgan could finally answer the question: Did he abandon his family, or was he protecting them?
Viewers deserve more than crumbs, and Ava deserves answers. If Roman returns, he’ll have to fight for a place in her guarded heart.
Meanwhile, Ludo (Taran Killam), Ava’s current father figure, may suddenly find himself on emotional shaky ground. Then there’s Karadec (Daniel Sunjata).
The slow-burning romance between him and Morgan finally began flickering.
But a returning ex with unfinished business could snuff that flame or fan it into a wildfire.
Either way, we want to see it, not theorize about it until the season finale.
Stop Saving Roman for High Potential Season 2’s Finale, Give the Story Room to Breathe
Keeping Roman offscreen limits High Potential’s momentum. The search has hit enough dead ends to last a season.
Now it’s time to pivot. Bring Roman back, and you don’t just resolve a mystery; you unlock multiple storylines.
Morgan could reopen the case that got Roman targeted. She might uncover that the person responsible is someone she’s crossed paths with.
That would be rich with irony, danger, and drama. With Roman present, the show could dive deeper, faster.
Think shifting loyalties, long-buried secrets, and personal reckonings, storytelling that crackles with urgency.
Right now, the pacing feels more like stalling at a red light when the audience is already leaning into the green.
Roman’s shadow has loomed long enough. At this point, High Potential isn’t building suspense; it’s burning daylight.
Kaitlin Olson has carried Morgan’s grief and grit with precision, but without payoff, the emotion starts to feel stuck in a loop.
It’s time to break that loop. Bring Roman into the frame, shake things up, and let the dominoes fall.
We’re ready for the emotional whiplash, the plot twists, the confrontation we’ve waited a season and a half for. So, what do you think?
Drop your spicy takes in the comments. We’re all ears, and Morgan would be too.
