Lucy Dacus returned to Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday, October 9th. During her appearance, the singer-songwriter performed Forever Is a Feeling cut “Best Guess” and served as a wedding officiant for several couples. Watch a replay below.
Wearing a billowy black dress over her signature white dress shirt and black tie, Dacus set the mood for the nuptials with apt lyrics such as, “Here is the church/ Here is the steeple,” as the soon-to-be-wedded couples danced around her. Once the performance was over, the boygenius member officiated the mass wedding ceremony.

Dacus officiated several weddings during her summer tour, including the marriage of nine couples onstage during her recent set at All Things Go NYC. “I wish it was rote and it wasn’t calling to mind any threats to people’s rights,” she told The New York Times. “But I can tell it’s coming up in everyone’s mind, everyone who’s onstage, everyone in the crowd. There’s no getting around everyone wondering if this is a temporarily possible moment.”

In that same interview, Dacus explained that “Best Guess” is a song that admits, “You can’t control anything, you can’t predict the future, but you can make your best guess.” The musician added that it has helped evolve her “concept of relationships… I think actually the more that I accept the idea of divorce, the closer I am to the idea of marriage.” (Dacus confirmed she is in a relationship with boygenius bandmate Julien Baker earlier this year.)
“Best Guess (wedding version)” appears on Forever Is a Feeling: The Archives, a newly released expanded version of Dacus’ album. The collection features demos, live recordings, and previously unreleased tracks such as “Losing” and a cover of Jim Croce’s “Time in a Bottle,” alongside recent singles “Bus Back to Richmond” and “More Than Friends.”

Dacus is set to close out 2025 with appearances at the New Yorker Festival and Mexico City’s Corona Capital, followed by a handful of dates supporting Billie Eilish. She’ll head back on the road in February 2026 with a tour of New Zealand and Australia. Grab tickets here.
