As fans patiently await the impending trailer release for Masters of the Universe, an exciting new look at the highly anticipated film has surfaced online. The home of Skeletor (Jared Leto) in Eternia has now been revealed, and it looks exactly what people expected it to in the faithful live-action adaptation of the iconic fantasy franchise.
He-Man.org reports that Mattel and Amazon debuted a first look at concept art for Snake Mountain from the Masters of the Universe, along with some plot details from the film. Although the reboot will start off on Earth, viewers will be transported to the magical realm known as Eternia, which is home to Skeletor, the main villain. It’s hard to imagine a better design for his headquarters, as Snake Mountain looks like it was ripped straight from the source material. Ruth Henriquez, the Head of Licensing, Publishing, and LBE at Mattel EMEA, shared the following about the upcoming reboot.
“[Masters of the Universe] has never gone away, it continued to reinvent itself. This feels like the perfect moment. Fans have been asking for more and we know there is a trend powered by nostalgia. Most importantly, we have been waiting for the perfect partner and creative team to bring ‘Masters of the Universe’ to life in a way that feels epic. For us, it needs to feel timeless, it needs to feel like coming home for the long-time fans, but it needs to feel like discovering a new world for first-time viewers.”
Greg Coleman, Global Head of Marketing and Franchise at Amazon, teased that the film would have plenty of “Easter eggs” for longtime fans, while proving a “broad” entry point for new audiences. Additionally, he mentioned how Skeletor and He-Man (Nicholas Galitzine) are the focal points of the new reboot.
“Skeletor is one of the most delicious villains of all-time, but there’s also a story of Adam, who is a regular person who has to grab the power. It’s always within him, and it’s revealed in a powerful way. We have this full dimensional cast and [director] Travis Knight who had a vision. Even if you have never seen ‘Masters of the Universe,’ it’s a fun, entertaining story.”
