Gorillaz have returned with a sprawling new single, “The Manifesto.” Listen to it below.
“The Manifesto” is the second song from the animated band’s upcoming ninth studio album, The Mountain, which is set for release on March 20th, 2026 (pre-order here). It follows the first single, “The Happy Dictator,” which dropped when the full-length was initially announced in early September.
The new song, which spans seven minutes, “carries the album’s themes of the cycle of life and the afterlife,” according to a press release. The track features the Argentine rap prodigy Trueno, who delivers such lines as, “Yo no sé qué va a pasar mañana/ Cuando atienda la luz que me llama/ Mami mi futuro me reclama/ Camino hacia la luz/ I have nothing to lose,” which translates as “I don’t know what tomorrow holds/ When I heed the light that’s calling me/ Baby, my future is demanding me/ I walk toward the light/ I have nothing to lose.”
Also featured on the song is a posthumous appearance by the late Detroit rapper and Eminem associate, Proof, whose lyrics include, “You aren’t ready for death/ Until I showed up, hold breath/ Until you blow the on one set.” Proof’s verse was a freestyle that was captured minutes before he entered the booth during an early recording session.
