Following the recent hospitalization of Tom Holland after the actor reportedly received a concussion while filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, there have been plenty of “confirmed” details about what exactly happened in the immediate aftermath of the accident. However, it seems that almost none of it was accurate, according to the actor’s father, Dominic.
In a post shared on The Brothers Trust website, the elder Holland shared details of the problems faced by the family’s charity “Posh Pub Quiz” held at Christies on September 20. According to Holland Sr., the stories of the “horrendous injury” suffered by his son have been mostly inaccurate and overexaggerated in many headlines, as there “was no ambulance, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day is not being filmed at Leavesden Studio.”
Rather than the major trauma Holland was said to have suffered, Holland Sr. said that the actor actually suffered just a “mild concussion” and spent a single night in hospital as a precaution. He then attended the charity event on September 20 as planned, but had to leave part way through when he began to feel unwell again. A Harvard neuro-physician who was present at the event advised Holland to go home and rest.
Holland Sr. added that his son is continuing to make a full recovery, which is great news.
‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Is the Next Phase for Holland’s MCU Journey
Just like Holland’s on-set accident, there have been many rumors about what will happen in the actor’s next outing as Spider-Man. Are they all true? Probably not, but it is hard to imagine they will all be wrong either.
So far, it is known that Holland will be joined again by Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, along with Jon Bernthal reprising his Daredevil: Born Again role as Frank Castle/Punisher and an almost guaranteed appearance by Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk. There have been some reports suggesting that Banner’s Hulk will be playing an antagonistic role in the movie, and others claiming that the film will directly lead into Avengers: Doomsday in the same way as Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four: First Steps did. For now, all we really know for certain is that this will be a whole new chapter for Holland’s webslinger, who has been protecting New York in anonymity since the events of No Way Home.
While Marvel Studios has once again struggled to attract the usual level of interest they enjoyed before the Covid pandemic this year, Spider-Man remains the most profitable superhero ever. This means Kevin Fiege and his team will be expecting a bumper haul in 2026, with Brand New Day being released in the summer and Avengers: Doomsday following in December. Whatever missteps the MCU has been seen to make in recent years, there is no one expecting next year to be anything other than a massive revitalizing success, and it will all begin with Spider-Man: Brand New Day on July 31, 2026.
