John C. Reilly has revealed big plans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his cult classic comedy, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. During a recent appearance on Steve-O’s Wild Ride! podcast, the actor said he intends to do a 2027 tour as Dewey Cox alongside the character’s band, The Hard Walkers.
“We’re going to do a concert tour, Dewey Cox and the Hard Walkers. As many dates and as big of places as we can do. So, yeah, that’s the idea for the 20th anniversary,” Reilly said, before recalling an eight-city run he did to promote the film’s original release in 2007.
Speaking about the original tour, Reilly said: “It worked out great. It seems insane. No studio would ever pay you to go even one time on a private plane anymore. But they were desperate at the time [due to the 2007–08 Writers Strike]… The concerts went great, they really did love the music. They barely knew the songs, though, they had just seen the movie.”
