Unwind Project, the moniker of Dutch producer & bass player Patrick Canal, just unveiled his debut album, and you’re in for quite the ride!
Out via Radio Juicy, Lovers on the Edge of Tomorrow sounds like a movie title but it’s, in fact, a stellar journey through jazz, beats & jazztronica. It tells a story of memory & emotions, crafted as Patrick’s personal soundtrack to his inner world.
He elaborates, “Ever since I started making music I’ve always felt the need to connect my songs to a scene from a video, film, or montage. For some reason I’ve always tied them to emotions that are a
mix of hope, new beginnings, danger or even risk. Over time I realized that these feelings
are states of mind I experienced while being with someone by my side and that surely others
have felt something similar. That’s why I decided to call my album Lovers On The Edge of
Tomorrow. I’ve always made music for myself first and foremost, but seeing others use my music to better experience their own emotions, that might be even more important to me.”
The record includes an amazing set of collaborators, including Paul Grant, Ian Ewing & more. Aside from the 2nd upfront single “La Ville Rose”, to me certainly a focus track is one of the new additions – “Pure”, together with Elijah Lee, Mauricesax & aronsmith. The song will blow you away with its drum groove, warm, spacey keys & woozy sax.
Needless to say, the whole project is must-hear, from start to finish:
