You will feel her wrath. And it’s a wrath currently being felt by Netflix, as this forgotten action thriller horror flick lands on the popular platform just in time for those who like a little revenge with their spooky season streaming.
Released in 2023, the thriller sequel The Wrath of Becky is now available to stream on Netflix, meaning audiences can watch American Pie star Seann William Scott break bad as the villain of the piece while suffering the brutal and bloody vengeance of one of the genre’s most unexpected action heroes. Led by a returning Lulu Wilson, and picking up two years after its 2020 predecessor, Becky, The Wrath of Becky finds its titular protagonist forced to resurrect her surprisingly violent set of skills when she becomes the target of an extremist group called the “Noble Men.”
Written and directed by Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote (The Open House), and starring Lulu Wilson, Seann William Scott, Denise Burse, Jill Larson, Michael Sirow, Aaron Dalla Villa, Matt Angel, Courtney Gains, Pac Williams, Alison Cimmet, Derek Gaines, John D. Hickman, and Kate Siegel, The Wrath of Becky was met with outstanding reviews from critics, landing a “Certified Fresh” score of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes alongside a solid 77% from audiences on the Popcornmeter. The action thriller follow-up is now streaming on Netflix, and you can check out the official synopsis below…
Two years after she escaped a violent attack on her family, Becky attempts to rebuild her life in the care of an older woman — a kindred spirit named Elena. But when a group known as the “Noble Men” break into their home, attack them, and take her beloved dog, Diego, Becky must return to her old ways to protect herself and her loved ones.
‘Becky 3’ Is Now in the Works
The response to The Wrath of Becky was far better than its divisive predecessor, with Collider’s Samantha Colley scoring the action thriller a perfect “A” and calling the sequel “a bloody revenge thriller that improves upon the original while leaving the audience yearning for more.” Rob Hunter of Film School Rejects, meanwhile, called The Wrath of Becky “a bloody good time and a quick, fun new chapter in one girl’s unconventional coming-of-age journey.”
Following such a response, a third chapter in the story of Becky is reportedly now in the works. Becky lead Lulu Wilson has previously hinted that Becky 3 is coming, teasing a trilogy for her wonderfully warped action hero, saying, “I don’t know how much I can say about this but, like, keep your hopes up. There could be something on the way.” While Wilson initially played it coy regarding a Becky threequel, she later opened up about reuniting with co-star Kate Siegel, pretty much confirming that Becky 3 is now happening…
“I’m not great at keeping in touch with anyone, but we had dinner the other night and it was amazing. Like Kate is, we’re very similar people and she’s such a talented actress. It was really exciting to work with her. Hoping that she’ll make an appearance in the third. But she’s fantastic. It was really fun, like getting to do our, like, two seconds of time together.”
