Earlier this year, Prince and The Revolution’s 1985 album Around the World in a Day celebrated its 40th anniversary. To recognize the milestone, NPG Records and Paisley Park Enterprises have partnered up with Warner Records and Legacy Recordings to release an expanded, newly remastered edition of the record, as well as a special vinyl box set that’s set for release on Record Store Day Black Friday.
The remastered version of Around The World in a Day, which features a new Dolby Atmos mix done by Prince protégé and Grammy-nominated engineer Chris James, arrives in a variety of formats, including vinyl and CD. A deluxe edition will accompany the release as well, boasting extended and alternate versions of songs, remixes, and B-sides. Around The World in a Day (Deluxe Edition) arrives in 2xCD, 3xLP, and digital packages, which are all set for release on November 21st. Pre-order the physical editions here.
As a preview, three rarities from Around The World in a Day (Deluxe Edition) are available to stream now, including the 22-minute 12-inch version of “America,” the digital debut of the remixed “Paisley Park,” and “4 the Tears in Your Eyes,” which Prince donated to USA for Africa’s We Are the World album in lieu of appearing on the celebrity-filled song. Additionally, the record has also been adapted into a limited-edition singles collection for Record Store Day Black Friday. Available in select participating record stores on November 28th, Around The World in a Day: The Singles compiles each of the four singles from the celebrated release (“Raspberry Beret,” “Paisley Park,” “Pop Life,” and “America”), as well as two versions of “4 The Tears In Your Eyes,” across five uniquely colored 7-inches. Each vinyl will be presented in its original sleeve and comes packaged within a special clamshell box.
