If you’ve been sleeping on Interview with the Vampire, it’s time to wake up!

The reimagining of the Anne Rice classic premiered in October 2022 on AMC to critical acclaim, plunging viewers into the dangerous world of vampires in present-day and 1910 New Orleans through the eyes of one Louis de Pointe du Lac.

What began as a riveting, soul-crushing look at everything from race, classism, queer identity, trauma, power, and immortality has grown into one of the boldest and most addictive dramas on television.

And both seasons just hit Netflix!

To know TV Fanatic is to know that we’ve always been big fans and championed for Interview with the Vampire to get the respect it deserves from the mainstream audience.

Whether you’ve read the books or seen the 1994 Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt spectacle, the television series will still surprise you in all the ways that matter as fans of plain old good television.

If you genuinely are unaware, the series is led by Game of Thrones veteran Jacob Anderson, who steps into the role of the aforementioned Louis.

It’s not an easy role to play, because there are various Louis’s in this world.

Louis is Front and Center on Interview With the Vampire

Throughout the first two seasons, we see much of this world through Louis’s eyes and perspective.

Still, the Louis we meet in Interview with the Vampire Season 1 (for my money, the best pilot of the past decade) is not the same Louis we see in Interview with the Vampire Season 2 Episode 1.

Years of trials (literally at one point) and tribulations have Louis growing in ways that truly test Anderson.

He plays Louis foolish in love one second, conniving and cruel the next, all while continuously injecting him with an air of mystery, vulnerability, and pain at every turn.

Anderson is matched up on screen with Sam Reid’s magnetic turn as Lestat de Lioncourt, Eric Bogosian’s Daniel Malloy, and Assad Zaman’s Arman.

They all take turns dancing around the narrative with Anderson, each with their own unique and intriguing relationship with Louis.

Louis and Lestat’s turbulent romance is at the forefront of the first season, as is their strained parental-like relationship with Claudia, played in the first season by Bailey Bass and then Delainey Hayles in Interview with the Vampire Season 2.

In the second season, the narrative focuses intensely on the dynamic between Louis and Claudia, offering a revealing look at a pair with decades of resentment and heartache that erupt in their quest to start anew in an unfamiliar place.

The second season builds on the first, introducing a new city, new characters, and new triumphs and pitfalls.

The story is strengthened, with each hour building until you reach the fever pitch of the final two installments, which leaves you both devastated and desperate for more.

Fall TV Is Taking on a More Staggered Approach Than Usual

If you haven’t seen Interview with the Vampire yet, now is the perfect time for a binge, as fall television has begun but isn’t quite all the way back.

And with the addition of the second season on Netflix, you can watch them all, without having to sit on any cliffhangers or musings.

Even if you’ve seen the second season, it’s not possible to overwatch truly well-made, provocative, and thought-provoking television.

Tell a friend to tell a friend, because Interview with the Vampire Season 3 will be here next year, and it’s time to turn this series from a sleeper hit into the mainstream juggernaut it should have always been.
