To the chagrin of a certain resident at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert appeared as guests on each other’s late-night shows on Tuesday. “Oh man, I hope they put out the plastic ketchup bottles at the White House tonight,” Kimmel joked as he introduced Colbert during a special episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! taped at the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Howard Gilman Opera House.
Later, while appearing on Colbert’s show, Kimmel took a more direct swipe at Donald Trump. “That son of a bitch… I never imagined we’d have a president like this, and I hope we’ll never have a never president like this again. I never even imagined there would ever be a situation in which the president of our county was celebrating hundreds of people were losing there jobs, that someone took pleasure in that. That’s the absolute opposite of what a leader of our country is supposed to be.”
For the most part, though, the two hosts used their crossover appearances to commiserate over recent network drama: Kimmel’s show was temporarily suspended by ABC last month under FCC pressure, while Colbert’s Late Show was canceled ahead of Paramount’s merger with Skydance over the summer, with the final episodes set to air next spring.
